Renovations of the Holy Family Children’s Home began in April 2015 with the boys’ house. Upon completion all the children were move to the renovated house including our two teenage boys both 18yrs. We have attached pictures of the project which includes new room for babies, storage cupboards, laundry room, bathroom & toilet facility, and bedroom windows.

The 2nd phase of the project, temporary office building and resource room began immediately due to termite infestation, electrical issues, leaks from the roof, and major plumbing issues in the walls of the girls’ building where the administrative office was being housed. In September 2015 the office and resource room facilities were transferred to their new location in order to facilitate the demolition of the girls’ house.

So as to better facilitate our teenage boys and help them become independent, Good News Project Inc. built them a two bedroom house on the Children’s Home property. Funds from other donors were used to extend the house to include an indoor bathroom and toilet facility.

We are grateful to our friends and benefactors who continue to assists our efforts in providing standardize and comfortable accommodation through donation of the funds and skilled workers to the project phases mentioned above, particularly the following:

  • The Diocese of Venice, Florida
  • Pontifical Society of Missionary Childhood, Rome
  • Mr. Alan Quesnel, Canada
  • Good News Project, Wisconsin
  • Hoe Bridge School, England
  • Sandals Foundation, St. Lucia
  • Isaac Electrics, St. Lucia

Further enhancement of the Office/Resource room and the renovated house were provided through a Tiling and Fans project funded through the kindness of Consolidated Foods Ltd and their Carnival Queen Representative for 2014, Ms Iyana Alexander.

Volunteers from Consolidated Foods Limited, Volunteer St. Lucia, Volunteer Trinidad, and Volunteer Jamaica worked tirelessly organizing our library, moving furniture and tiling on March 26th 2016. Aaron David and Fabian Norley returned one week later to complete the tiling and Isaac electrics set up the ceiling fans in each room.

Following the same spirit of ‘Coudmen’, four generous individuals from Douglas-Malone Inc. (Andre Donelly, Julius Emmanuel, Cosmas, and Deland) spent an entire day demolishing the girls’ house. On June 4th 2016, they were joined by Volunteers from Consolidated Foods Ltd; Terry Auguste, Peter Auguste, Sean Greenidge, and Fabian Norley to clear the debris that was demolished.

We continue to fundraise for the final phase of the project; extension of the Home which includes:

  • Supervised visitation area for children and their family to enhance child safety and more adequate monitoring;
  • A Commercial kitchen to facilitate fundraisers and allow the Home to become self-sufficient;
  • An equipped study area & library to facilitate the developmental and educational needs of our children while enabling proper supervision during Homework and study time. The library will also facilitate a remedial reading afterschool program for children from the community 6 – 9yrs old;
  • Separate staff hygiene facilities; Indoor play areas; additional bedrooms; and storage facility.
